The video for “Tributary” from our EP Porous is out now! Directed by our pal Scott Marshall, who has previously directed music videos by Guided by Voices, Dinosaur Jr., and his fantastic band Chavez (amongst many many other amazing endeavors).

Porous is the fifth release from Two Dark Birds, the critically acclaimed band from the Catskills. This four song EP, a collaboration between singer-songwriter Steve Koester and producer / dummer J.B. Mills, is a distinct departure from the band’s previous more folk- leaning forays

Most of these songs were written to accompany the audiobook version of Nina Shengold's beautiful new memoir Reservoir Year. The album dives deep into the natural world of the Ashokan Reservoir and the surrounding Catskill Mountains.

Psyched to finally be playing some Two Dark Birds music this Saturday 1 pm on the lawn at Bearsville Theater. Chris Maxwell and his very magic band will follow at 2 pm.

“A Undiscovered Element” was recorded direct to two track at Sorry Studios NYC in 1999. The album finds the band, in its final days, at its most impressively strange and pugnaciously stereophonic.

Punchdrunk was a rock band that started in the furnace room underneath my childhood living room in Whitefish Bay Wi in 1989 and ended in a rehearsal space underneath a bodega off of St. Marks in the East Village NYC in 1999.

Twenty years ago (no seriously), I recorded my first solo album at Sound of Music Studios in Richmond VA. I wanted to create something darker and stranger and more open than what I'd done previously.

Steve Koester will be doing a solo show along with Sandy Bell and Mark Rozzo.
